New Service!

Many agencies require instruction on particular subjects. A government agency recently requested a course on Root Cause Analysis. What I offer is to instruct the requested course and lead the government team in resolving the issues. Then, I will lead the team to establishing processes and documentation that will carry forward to good practices and doctrine.

The Importance of IT Enterprise Infrastructure Plans in Federal Agencies

I’m delighted to be instructing Applied Leadership in Projects and Programs next week. One of the areas needing leadership is National Systems Integration of IT systems at the federal agency level. The development of IT Enterprise Architecture will be essential for full use of quantum technologies management and data exploitation.

Comments on Instructions and Interesting Dialogs

“Lynn was a consummate professional.” “Lynn was a great Instructor and sets the bar.” These are comments from my FPM 333, Progressive Business, Cost and Financial Management class.

A common issue that I find from class discussions is an agency’s IT Enterprise Strategy – or lack thereof. Though federal agencies are mandated to have an IT strategy, try finding it. And this is to say nothing about a Concept of Operations.

A senior executive stated that when new executives come into place, particularly political appointees, there is a lack of understanding or willingness to comply with federal mandates.

These mandates, some from the Office of Management and Budget and the Government Accounting Office, to name just two, are really good and reflect a great deal of thought. Oh well.

I am more than willing to assist senior leaders. The workforce is getting trained.

Upcoming Courses to Federal Government

I am looking forward to another year of opportunities exploring with federal agencies their long-range IT architecture strategies, acquisition strategies, and planning, programing, budgeting, and execution. With the Federal Acquisition Institute paradigm, we will learn from each other. The classes love the discussions.

When a class has multiple agencies in it, there is a lot of good cross pollination. When the students are all from one agency people learn how their agency works and see its strengths and weaknesses. It’s all good.
